George Clooney is one actor who is using his popularity for a good cause. After becoming famous for his roles on the TV series ER and films like Ocean's Eleven and O Brother, Where Art Thou, Clooney won an Oscar for his performance in Syriana. As one of Hollywood's most handsome bachelors, he has been named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive - twice.
In spite of the celebrity frenzy that follows him, Clooney has spoken out on issues that are important to him. He traveled to Darfur to headline the Save Darfur rally and help end the genocide, and he has been equally passionate about environmental issues, driving eco-friendly vehicles. In January 2008, Clooney was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
Clooney was born in Kentucky and attended both Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati, though he never graduated. He has only been married once, to actress Talia Balsam, but the couple divorced in 1993. Actresses Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman each bet $10,000 that he would have a child by the time he was 40. Clooney won.
