As host of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Stewart has taken comedy and satire to a new level. He started out doing stand-up comedy, but moved onto television, from MTV to Comedy Central, where he co-produces his show. He is also author of America (The Book), which was a 2004 bestseller.
What separates Stewart from his peers is his influence over the public. A Pew survey showed that 21 percent of Americans ages 19 to 29 watch the Daily Show as their only news source, so his views are being heard nationwide.
Stewart majored in psychology at the College of William and Mary, and in 2000, he married Tracey McShane. The couple has a son and a daughter.
